Accessibility 

The Railway Hotel Accessibility Information

The Railway Hotel strives to be a safe and accessible space for all. 

We hope that the below information will be helpful in planning your visit.

Front Door Access

The front door entrance is flush with the footpath. There is no step or ramp to enter.

The front doors are push to open and both can be opened for a wider entrance.

Getting Here

Accessible Parking 

The closest accessible car parking zone is on the corner of Nicholson and Liverpool Streets, 50 metres south of the venue, towards the city.

Parking

There is limited street parking directly outside the venue and a small car park 30 metres north of the venue on the corner of Nicholson Street and Park Street.

Access to this car park is via Park Street.

Bike Access

There are bike racks outside the op shop next door to the venue.

Please ensure your bike is locked up securely as this is a public area. 

The venue is located 50 metres away from the Inner Circle Rail Trail bike path.

When travelling north to south the safest path is down Canning Street one block from the venue. 

Take care when riding on Nicholson Street there is no designated bike lane.

Public Transport

Trams

The No. 96 tram runs along Nicholson Street.

The closest wheelchair accessible tram stop is the Number 19, Brunswick Road Tram Stop. This is 50 metres north of the Railway Hotel and has ramped access to traffic light crossing.


Ubers/Taxis

Drop Off / Pick Up Taxi and Uber pick up/ drop off is available directly in front of the venue on Nicholson Street.

There is ramped access from the roadway via the driveway 10 metres south of the venue near the carwash.

Guide dogs and Service dogs

Guide dogs and service dogs are welcome throughout the venue.

Staff are happy to assist in providing drinking water for service animals.

Ordering at the bar

Staff can assist you placing your order and taking drinks back to your table if required.

Our staff are always happy to assist. This may include:

  • moving tables for access

  • assistance with menus and ordering, providing description of dishes

  • table service

We have a number of different table options and areas in the venue. Please let us know when making a booking if you have any specific requirements and we’ll do our best to help.

Finding a quiet space

The Railway is generally relaxed however if you require a quiet space, please ask the staff.

Toilets

All bathrooms at the venue currently have one step at the entrance.

All gender toilet

There is currently no all gender bathrooms, however you may use whichever bathroom you are comfortable with.

If you have mobility issues or you require extra room please be aware that some of the cubicles can be narrow and there is no fully accessible bathroom.
