shamik chakrabarti (fully seated live comedy)

shamik chakrabarti live in the ballroom

After acclaimed performances across India, London and the Edinburgh Fringe, Shamik Chakrabarti brings his unique brand of stand-up comedy to Australia for the very first time.

Known for his razor-sharp writing, dry wit and brilliantly understated delivery, Shamik has become one of the most distinctive voices in Indian stand-up comedy. His comedy finds humour in everyday absurdities, social awkwardness, overthinking, and the strange realities of modern life, all delivered with a deceptively calm stage presence that has earned him a devoted following around the world.

With millions of views across social media and a reputation as a comedian's comedian, Shamik has built a loyal audience through smart observational comedy that rewards both casual comedy fans and those who appreciate clever writing. His ability to turn seemingly ordinary situations into unforgettable stories has made him a favourite among audiences looking for stand-up that is thoughtful, relatable and consistently funny.

Now, Shamik arrives in Australia with his most interactive show yet. Expect sharp observations, unexpected tangents, audience interaction, brand-new material and plenty of the awkward charm that has become his trademark.

"There was barely a moment when I wasn't chuckling." - Chortle (UK)

"Crafted with great care — no forced punchlines." - DeadAnt

Whether you've followed his work online for years or are discovering him for the first time, this is an opportunity to experience one of India's most exciting comedy voices live on stage.

Come prepared to laugh, overthink, and laugh again.

ROMANIE

ROMANIE

romanie live in the ballroom

Multi-award-winning Naarm/Melbourne-via-Belgium indie musician Romanie will launch her sophomore LP It’s Not That Funny at Railway Hotel this May.

It’s Not That Funny is Romanie’s most expansive and emotionally direct work to date. Moving between chaos and calm, anguish and optimism, the record explores trauma, healing and growth with raw lyricism and a growing grit in her sound. Featuring collaborations with Hamish Mitchell (Armlock), Tom Stell (Golden Features) and Adam Hyde (Peking Duk/Keli Holiday), the album builds on the candid storytelling that defined her debut while pushing further into heavier, bass-driven territory.

The night marks a full-circle moment: the official video for focus track ‘Falling’ was filmed at the Railway Hotel during Romanie’s birthday celebration, where friends showed up in wedding dresses in a tribute to community and connection. That same spirit of vulnerability, joy and togetherness sits at the heart of the album and will shape this special launch. Feel free to dust off your wedding dresses again and come get married to your friends!

Special opening act are Romanie’s dear friends Jeane, thoughtfully chosen for the occasion. The day before the show, Romanie and Jeane will be writing a brand new song together and sharing it on stage at the launch in whatever form it’s taken; raw, unfinished, or something entirely unexpected. It’s a one-off collaboration, so come early and be part of it.

Joined by her band, Romanie will perform It’s Not That Funny live in full, bringing its intimate and powerful moments to the stage in the very room where part of its story was captured.
